When man remains in the animal mold, or lingers in the world
of nature, he becomes utterly bereft of the light, inasmuch as the world of
nature is one of darkness. But when he progresses from the animal mold he
enters the human reality, or the stage between darkness and light. From one
aspect the human reality is connected with the world of darkness, and from the
other aspect it is connected with the world of light, which is represented in
man by the third, or spiritual, reality. This third mold comprises the
spiritual virtues, and is symbolized by the world of angels….
